Dr. Etzel is the founding editor of "Pediatric Environmental Health", an influential bibliographic work that has helped thousands of health professionals better recognize, diagnose, treat, and prevent diseases in children caused by environmental pollution. From 2009 to 2012, she led WHO activities to protect children from environmental risks and worked for 12 years at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, where she founded and directed the Department of Air Pollution and Respiratory Health.
The lecture is part of the event program "Internationalizes UFRJ 2030", which this Friday, May 12, brings together at the Museu do Amanhã international scientists and researchers from the institution who developed work abroad to discuss topics such as sustainability and inequalities. The program runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and admission is free. Simultaneous translation will be provided.
At the Museu do Amanhã, the pediatrician will also speak about the effects of exposure to air pollution on the incidence of diseases in children. The specialist is recognized for investigating these impacts in different cities around the world and speaks about how to deal with viral illnesses, including in Latin American countries and child health.
Após o evento, as palestras internacionais poderão ser conferidas at this address.
Like Etzel, they will also give micro-lectures for the UFRJ graduate academic community on May 15 and 16. The schedule is on UFRJ's Instagram.
