For research participants, blood, urine, and breast milk are collected. The babies undergo clinical and outpatient examinations, such as umbilical cord blood collection at birth and urine collection, in addition to an anthropometric assessment that records length, height, and weight.

Follow-up and Monitoring

Babies are also periodically followed by pediatricians, psychologists, nurses, physical therapists, nutritionists, and other health professionals, through the application of instruments for health data collection, in previously scheduled visits. If necessary, the baby is referred for evaluation with a specialist.

"PIPA project participants must sign an Informed Consent Form (ICF) stating that they agree to participate in the research."
