WHAT IS IT?
O Projeto Infância e Poluentes Ambientais (PIPA/UFRJ) tem como objetivo a investigação dos efeitos dos poluentes ambientais sobre a saúde materno-infantil desde a gestação até os 4 anos de idade.
Ele é coordenado pelo Instituto de Estudos em Saúde Coletiva da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (IESC/UFRJ) e está sendo realizado na Maternidade Escola (ME) at UFRJ, in partnership with Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (FIOCRUZ), and with the Instituto Evandro Chagas (IEC).
The project is pioneering in Brazil, having been approved by the Research Ethics Committees of ME/UFRJ (opinion number: 5.415.164) and FIOCRUZ (opinion number: 2.121.397).
PIPA/UFRJ is a prospective cohort study focused on the effects on child health of exposure to chemical substances (specifically metals, pesticides, and plasticizers) dispersed in the environment to which children are exposed from conception.
