PIPA/UFRJ celebrates 2 years of cohort
On June 17, 2021, the first PIPA Project baby was born, Thor, who marked the beginning of our cohort.
In 2023 we celebrated 2 years of the project taking off: 907 pregnant women enrolled in the research, 844 babies were born and will be followed by the project until they reach 4 years of age, and 2,545 biological samples have been collected to date.
Follow-up assessments are in full swing, and to date the project team has evaluated: 576 three-month-old infants, 542 six-month-old infants, and 484 one-year-old infants.
And what's coming next? We are preparing to begin assessments of 2-year-old babies and planning many new developments.
We thank all students, researchers, professors, health professionals, and partners involved in the project and, especially, the participating families of the PIPA Project, who are essential for us to have come this far. Together we fly higher!
