PIPA/UFRJ at the XII Brazilian Congress of Agroecology

The PIPA Project, from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), actively participated in the XII Brazilian Congress of Agroecology (CBA), held between November 20th and 23rd, 2023 in downtown Rio de Janeiro. The PIPA team was involved in various activities, including the collective construction of the Children's Circle Dance and the presentation of the play "Pipinha on Planet Earth," highlighting its commitment to agroecology and environmental education.

This important event, with the motto "Agroecology in the Mouth of the People," marked the first time that Rio de Janeiro hosted the CBA. With decentralized activities in emblematic locations such as Fundição Progresso, Arcos da Lapa, Circo Voador, UERJ, and the NGO Ação Cidadania, the congress brought together approximately 5,000 participants, including students, researchers, family farmers, and members of traditional communities.

In addition to their contributions to the Congress, the PIPA UFRJ team has been involved in preparations for the Children's Circle since September, ensuring a playful and educational space for the children who accompanied the adults to the event.

The 12th Brazilian Congress of Agroecology (CBA) stood out for its inclusive approach, combining academic and popular knowledge, and emphasizing the importance of producing healthy and sustainable food. With activities in strategic cultural locations, the event not only strengthened the field of agroecology in Brazil and Latin America, but also attracted a broad and diverse audience, highlighting the relevance of agroecology in contemporary society.
